Throw out bearing

My throw out bearing has gone bad in my 62 C60. I press the clutch in and it makes an ear piercing sound. I am trying to sell the truck but I haven't had much luck with the bearing noise. I'm debating fixing it. My question is what all needs to be done to swap it. It looks like the clutch and pressure plate would come out through the bottom without having to take off the bell housing. Is this possible? I know I will still have to slide the tranny back.

How does the e-brake on the back of the tranny unhook? Can I just take off the lever or do I have to remove the whole thing?

Next up is I see no parts listed anywhere for a C60, only C40's. If I rip this thing out what's the chances one of the clutches listed for the C40's will match up?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've attached some pics. First pic is how my clutch looks under the truck. Looks like maybe a cover of some sort is missing?

Re: Throw out bearing

You can see some shiny grinding marks on the throw out bearing. I tried adding some red wheel grease to it to slow down the noise. I wasn't trying to hide it to sell it but thought any type of lube to get it to quiet down would help.

Re: Throw out bearing

Should be pretty much the same as a C-30 when I changed mine years ago. My '64 also had the E-Brake on the Trans. After unbolting and taking out the Floor Section, just drop the Driveshaft and slide the Trans back with the E-Brake parts still intact. Then just take out the Throw-Out Bearing. If you are going to change the Clutch too, just drop it down. Your Bell Housing can stay and is designed to change the Clutch and Pressure Plate with it in place. There is a Cover that is supposed to be on there as you have mentioned.

Yep When I changed the TO bearing on my 65 C-50, I cut a short piece out of a huge log to support the transmission when I slid it back. You only need to get the input shaft far enough back to slip the bearing off the end (still inside the bell housing IIRC). Nice thing on the big trucks is that you can sit up underneath the cab between the frame rails

Be aware though - if the TO bearing is squealing then you might have some damage to the fork already

Mine had a grease zerk on the TO bearing - which of course I didn't discover until I had to replace it
