Bumper looks wrong

Can someone with experience look at this picture and tell me if the is bumper looks right. Brand new and new brackets but it looks like it is angled down. Brackets would only go one way as installed. The box did say step side. I didn't want to highjack the last thread. Thanks

Re: Bumper looks wrong

That's normal.

It's also a bit of an illusion because of how the bumpers are cut. It could also be aftermarket vs stock (mine are aftermarket as well.)

They all angle down like that on the stepside trucks.

Re: Bumper looks wrong

Thanks guys, I was worried I received a bad bumper even though I bought from a reputable supplier. Thanks again for the compliments. Its been a long 2 1/2 years and a lot of good advice from the members here to get me to this point.

Perfectly normal. They all turn down.

Re: Bumper looks wrong

My fleet side did that when I installed it I just enlarged the holes on the bracket that mount to the frame and angled it so it was straight

Re: Bumper looks wrong

It does look to be turned down. My truck had a bumper like that when I got it. It was all wrong too. I trashed it instead of correcting the angle. I think step boxes look better with a shorter bumper that protects just the box. Many years ago I had a 67 step that I installed a shortened fleet side bumper and had it re-chromed. It looked way better than the stock set up. The fleet side bumpers are flatter and don't curve forward at the ends.
If you keep the stock bumpers it would be worth tucking in the bottom until the bumper is pleasing to the eye. (5 degrees or so) The brackets could be modified to do that, or wedges could be used under the bolts.
I am attempting to fab a bumper from scratch for my new '67. No telling how it will turn out. It's about half done now.
