Truck keeps stalling out please help

I have 68 C10 with a mid 80's SBC and a 350 automatic transmission. Everything on the engine is new expect the fuel pump and plug wires. My problem is the truck will run fine for a few miles then it begins to stall. I work the gas to keep it running. The problem is intermitting and the engine may be hot or cold. We have set the timing and vacuum. We idle it up because it wants to stall when put in drive. I went as far as having the torque converter checked.
The Quck fuel carb is brand new too. Please help. Any suggestion appreciated.

Re: Truck keeps stalling out please help

might not just be the fuel pump. Is the pickup clear in the fuel tank? I seen fuel socks(tank pickup filters) get partially clogged and closes off fuel supply at any time or temp.Just an FYI.

Thumbs up Re: Truck keeps stalling out please help

Does it do it at 1/2 a tank and below more than when full? Could be a bad sock are it could be a vacuum being pulled on the tank.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

New parts don't always mean working parts. What condition is your fuel line and filter in?

Next time it does it try removing the fuel cap and see if it sucks air in when you loosen it up. Could be pulling a vacuum like Andy said. Do you have a fuel filter on it? If so where is it?

YOu might want to try adjusting the arm that drives the accelerator pump. You would be surprised by how much grief those can give if they are "feeding fuel" by the arm pushing down even slightly. Holley says there is supposed to be a "slight drag" on a 0015 feeler gauge when inserted between the arm bottom and the pump arm. Adjust it till it does not touch and then adjust back towards the arm.

Re: Truck keeps stalling out please help

New engine? did the intake get retorqed? I had a stalling problem and was frustrated as no amount of tuning seemed to help, it would be fine then 2 minutes later the stalling and not wanting to idle would start again, it turned out my intake had loosened up and the cheapo intake gaskets had saturated with coolant and failed, replaced with better quality gaskets and resealed the threads going into the water jacket with the correct sealant and no problems since.

Re: Truck keeps stalling out please help

I had a fuel pump that must have had a small hole in the diaphragm. It was just as you describe. I replace with a cheapo advance one then when I was sure it was fixed put a holley pump on it. Been running great since.
