Added rally wheels Beauty ring creeping or falling off?

Ok, the first day I lost two of the deep dish beauty rings that came with the rallys.
I was told to buy new ones at O'Reilly Automotive they are not as deep and nice but have stayed on for a week plus. I have one that is creeping around the wheel and I am worried it will cut the stem.
I have used pliers to pull the teeth out tighter and it fits tight as hell but still is creeping.
I cleaned the inside of the wheel to make sure somehow it wasnt slick but dont know what else to do
as they are still creeping around and I know it will cause failure at some point on the stem.

How can I stop this what should I do?

Thanks PG

make sure your tires are balanced.... and quit hitting curbs. those curbs`ll knock your rings right off

Re: Added rally wheels Beauty ring creeping or falling off?

I just had them mounted and balanced so I have to think they are and I promise no curbs have been the issue so far.

One the rings they wheels came with what I think is factory deep dish rings
those were the ones coming off.

I got the thinner aftermarket ones and one of those is the one creeping
it is on the front right tire only. I guess I could swap the rings and
see if for some reason that wheel is off balance?

Thanks PG

Buy a set of oem rings..even with the massive potholes in my area a gm ring has yet to fly off on me. Finding a set should not be too hard, and the can be polished to look like new as long as the lip isnt all beat.

Are these factory type truck rally wheels and rings?

Could just be lack of bite for the clips.
Saw one once like that, the guy put some strips of duct tape on the rim where the teeth made contact.
Are those rims painted or powder coated?
Powder coated is slippery!

I dont know how they are painted but that tape is a great idea.
Odd only one wheel is doing it and I have bent the teeth in to make them super tight still spinning however. PG

I use tape all the time, I usually use a inch roll of masking tape and wrap around the ring grippers 2 or 3 times then tap it snug with a mallet, that will/should do the trick.

In the pic are those stock rings? They look like ones crom a camaro or corvette. The truck rings are more rounded. Not sure if that would make any difference, but the tape idea sounds good too.

Ditto!!! I did the same thing after I purchased after market rally wheels. The caps were a little loose so the guy that I bought them from suggested putting tape around the contact area. I did this and no more loose or rattling caps

Just a thought.
If those oversize tires sidewall flexes enough in turns to press on the edge of the trim ring it could possibly work the ring loose.

Re: Added rally wheels Beauty ring creeping or falling off?

The tires do not appear to be pushing the beauty rings back as I said now my only problem seems to be one the front passenger side is creeping around the rim and I am worried it will cause a failure on the stem at some point.

I am going to add tape as was suggested and see what happens.

Thanks PG

Have you tried swapping it to another wheel?

Great looking Blazer by the way.
