How or why are these different from the 2wd brackets?

Erl, they differ in length, and design.

Jeff, consider them yours. Don't know if I still have your address. send it to me and I'll get you a total with shipping.
Thanks, Bill

Gone in 60 seconds!!!

WOW! Those things are so hot, they must be smokin. Is it like "incest", when the parts dealers buy & sell to each other? That is what they call it around here, when we just buy & sell most of our parts from each other.
Here's a "Trick Question". Which of the brackets in the picture is correct for 67-72 GMC and 67-70 Chev?
ANSWER: I am not sure. They are clearly different shaped brackets...but fit/came off early 4x4s (not 71-2). Both sets fit on my 69 GMC w/PS just fine. So I guess there are at least two styles we can use.

Well there the same pretty much except 67 originally can have a different drivers side due to PS... but they look like a universal 67-70 Chev or 67-72 GMC. lol

I'll take a stab at that Q. From what I understand, the two center brackets are for 71-72 chevy...they have a little cut out so the bumper lights will clear bracket. I may be wrong, JMO, hope I'm right.

Okay I have a question- Will 72 4x4 brackets WORK (look right and hold right) on a 69-70 even tho' they won't be "CORRECT".

Smile

71-72 brackets are longer than the 67-70 brackets, because the bumper holes were moved to accommodate the park lights in the bumper. (The 71-72 brackets for the 4x4's are 2" longer than the 67-70's).
