wtb: cheap big block

think im looking for a cheap big block. dont care if its running or not. prefer it to be in 100-200 dollar range. dont care if whole thing is present.looking to build a big block

Considering mounts are $100, ps set ups are $200, alt and ac brackets are $200. A motor is probably going to run you $400 min. without anything else. The you got exhaust manifolds, carb etc. Good luck, Randy

My local Chevy dealership gets 500 for a 454 core. This is a core only, unknown condition. Bare longblock. No accesories or anything.

And there is a waiting list for them. I've been able to score 2 a year at the most.

wow. that is a lot. a guy in tx i saw in the thrifty nickel had a 72 with title but no grill and no bed and a 402 for 300 bucks. i wanted to go get it. but i still havent looked into it.

You said it, it's a 402

454s bring the big bucks. 396/402s are much cheaper to get into. But, you're not getting too big of an engine cubic inch wise, but you sure get it weight wise.

dinnut, You should go get the truck with the 402 for $300. The brackets and mounts are worth that.
