Anyone? Successful 1960-62 CPP Power Steering Install?

Everyone shows how they did it on a 63 and later with the C frame but rarely on a 60-62 with a box frame.

Anyone have a successful CPP power steering box bracket installation with pictures?

I know captain fab has brackets, but I already have brackets with this kit.

Has ANYONE successfully installed the CPP power steering kit in a 1961-1963 successfully?

Re: Anyone? Successful 1960-62 CPP Power Steering Install?

My 65 is on a 62 frame. I bought the CPP kit because Captainfab's is set up for the 63-66. His will work for the 60-62 frames, but it takes some creative adapting. There's a thread in these forums where a guy used capt's plate, but he had to use another plate on the inside of the frame, and had to use some spacers.
As much as I'd like to recommend Captainfab's plate for the 60-62, at this time the CPP will be easier to install. But, the box will be slightly skewed as I mentioned here:

Re: Anyone? Successful 1960-62 CPP Power Steering Install?

I do make a power steering box adapter plate kit for the '60-'62 frames. I just do not have installation instructions or a template for it yet. There are 3 threads here on the forum showing past customers' installations. One has some dimensions.

I can't say if one steering adapter is better than the other but I used captains adapter on my 62 and the instructions were clear enough. I thought it went on easy and I am happy with the way the project turned out. I can post pictures if someone wants them for reference.

Re: Anyone? Successful 1960-62 CPP Power Steering Install?

You and sleepy sal have made my day. I can see what I need to do. The upper rear mount on my box is threaded and its not flat to where I can install a bolt and tighten down. Ill either need to make a collar that fits the radius or grind the box...

Looks like CPP started using a different steering box that hits the bracket in the "U" section and isn't right to drill that upper rear bolt hole out as the flange isn't flat.
The Instructions say nothing about drilling the upper rear bolt hole out.
The hardware has one (1) bolt for the lower front, and 3 long bolts that insinuate that you bolt the bosc on from the rear for the other 3. And has no collars (spacers) to mount the rear plate to the back side of the frame at the front.

After realizing the CPP bracket came with the wrong hardware and ****ty instructions, I believe this will be a clean install and work just fine. Now if I could only get them to let me fix the instructions (Im a technical writer by trade)...

Re: Anyone? Successful 1960-62 CPP Power Steering Install?

So besides the wrong hardware, they made a new bracket that clears the steering box. Ill pick it up tomorrow and install this weekend. Hoping for the best!
