Anyone upholster their inner door panels?
How hard would it be to put cloth upholstery on my removable inner door panels? Would the cloth have to be a bit stretchy to conform to the contours and keep the wrinkles out? Just use contact cement spray? What about the corners? I saved this picture a while ago and I really like the look.

Not what you asked but, I covered the inner flat section of the door panel with carpet, and used cloth piping to finish the edges. Your saved photo is a nice, clean look, the cloth or vinyl would have to be somewhat stretchy, I think.

Most automotive fabric has stretch. Some more than others. One rule that all trimmers work by is, always start from the center. That means in any direction. Center to front, center to back, center to up, center to down. You will want to have your metal clean. Scuff with fine sand paper, or scotch bride pad. Wipe clean again, and use good contact cement. Follow the instructions on the glue container. Of all the projects that a trimmer has to preform, your door panels will be the easiest. So this is a good home project for anybody wanting to do their own project. Make sure that you work the fabric into the creases with a rounded tool, like a dull butter knife before moving on across the door panel. This will be a fairly simple project. Good luck.
