A Great Day at work!

A little off topic but just wanted to share. So today is a very special day. After 39 years and 2 months I am working my last shift at EMS. Never thought when I started that it would be such a long career. I've worked at the same service since the beginning which is unheard of in this business. Most people jump around from service to service multiple times. It's been gratifying to serve the public in my community. It has changed tremendously over the years. Now I need another project to work on.

Congrats, and thanks for all that service, even though I didn't need it. I'm sure that the people who did appreciated it!

Re: A Great Day at work!

Congratulations. I bet there are more than a few folks still walking around today because of your service. Thank you.
It sounds like you are a tinkerer. Retirement is the best for our kind. You don't have the looming, get back to work bell interrupting your progress, and can stop and start things whenever the heck you want. Enjoy.

Re: A Great Day at work!

Fantastic! I was hoping that is what the title meant.
Mine would have been last Friday, but I let them talk me into staying until January 1st.
Is there a particular reason for this specific day?
Mine was because of my birthday.

Re: A Great Day at work!

Welcome to retirement. I retired after 30+ yrs in bridge construction and bridge painting. Traveled all over the place. I bought a 72 swb 4x4. And that’s my new passion. Thanks for the yrs of service you gave to your town. Enjoy

My birthday was the 14th. It was the last shift I had scheduled for the month.

Not an easy job to handle in the first place and here you stuck with it and never floundered. Says a lot about your good character.
