any pics of **************** head-light (h-4) conversion?

got my new headlight set-up from shawn at **************** and was wondering if these will show up as being too..."blue"? really would have liked the ultra-white, but i'll have to see how the ones that came w/ the kit are like...... anybody did the upgrade, and is it too bling-bling blue or what?

Buxman66, Can you post a pic of what the lights look like (ininstalled)? I am particularly interested in what the front of them look like. I like more of the plain look without the tribars and couldn't find a pic on his website. Thanks.

headlight

When I was doing some website clean-up I must have deleted the pictures. These were taken during the day time so they won't be real impressive.

the rattle is probably the retainer piece on the back of the housing, you might want to check it before you install them

went out today and put 'em in... the one that i thought had a bad filliment(?) i put in first and it worked ok......so i went ahead and put the other one in and pulled the switch and nothin' happened....! ding dangit anyhow!! groundwires on the rad.support are ok,checked my fuse.....which one is it anyway? the one says "spot lmps" and one beside it says "lights" ....anyhoo i took 'em both out and checked 'em and they looked fine. i gonna change 'em none the less. i took out my switch and i'm gonna replace it too, process of elimination i guess......might need to run a relay possibly,i got all original wiring on my '68 so the wiring might not be able to take it. i would think that the fuse would blow.....? could be that the fuse did blow and i did'nt see it ....possibly behind the metal bases. thin strand in the fuse makes it hard to tell. the rattling sound was of the bulb itself shawn,...... not of the retainer on the back of the housing. but hell, it worked y'know....? and the high beams also. gonna put the new fuses in and replace the switch and hopefully that takes care of it.

Quick question. There is a statute in Arizona that prohibits blue lights on vehicles. It is obvious that the statute is designed to prohibit individuals from being perceived as law enforcement vehicles. However I have noticed a trend that indicates that officers have been interpreting the statute to include headlights with a bluish beam. Officers have been citing individuals with other than factory headlights that appear to have a bluish tint citing that statute. Has anyone been pulled over yet or gone to court on a traffic ticket for these? Are the bulbs DOT approved? I know that some auto parts store bulbs that have a bluish tint say "for off road use only". Just wondering. I am sure Rick's are DOT approved. Just wanted to know before I lay down a few bucks. Thanks.

blue

IMO - I think that statute was created more in response to the "ricers" and the minitrucks that were putting the blue bulbs in their markers and signal lights then the HID "blue" color headlights.

We have owned two cars in the last couple years that came factory w/ HID headlights (2002 mercedes and a 2003 Cadillac CTS) and both of them made alot more of the blue color than the H4 units do and we never had any problems.

I haven't had anyone that bought them have any problems w/ th police, and I think it is mainly because the "blue" isn't extremely "BLUE" like the aftermarket HID's are (unless you are about 2 feet in front of them like in the picture).

Sorry this response didn't go in any paticular direction, but I'm not a lawyer and I realy didn't know how to respond to it. But if you want to see a set in action stop by and I will gladly show you and you can make a decision before you buy them.

Thanks for the additional info Shawn. I will likely be getting two pairs in the near future. I work in a court and observed a lot of tickets coming in for what I described earlier. Most came in when the bulbs first became very popular. Since then I think that law enforcement has come to the understanding that aftermarket bulbs should not be treated any differently than OEM bulbs, especially if they are DOT approved. Have not seen too many of these tickets lately.

Take Care,

Jeff
