Re: 72 - GMC Project
Did you move the tranny and crossmember for the engine removal? I don't understand how the engine could be farther back otherwise...

Re: 72 - GMC Project
No, didn't remove either of those. The 383 stroker has bigger heads, so it sits up taller, which is why its hitting.

Re: 72 - GMC Project
Thanks for the kind words. Now I just have to put the darn thing back together and finish it so I can drive it instead of just stare at it....but then I guess if I'm driving I can't drink beer at the same time, where as I can drink beer while I stare at it, which brings me back to the reason why its not finished yet....beer.

Re: 72 - GMC Project
Why do things have to take so long????
Apart from minor things like having a/c charged, installing new radio, tiding up things here and there, the winter mods are done. I'm enjoying finally driving this truck. It was a VERY tough decision, but I just don't have the luxury of not ever hauling something in the bed, so I had a spray in liner installed. I know, I'll probably be flamed for it, but my truck must be used, so I had no option. I had a new paint job fairly recently, and at the first sing of use (even with a nice ruber bed mat), it started cracking and chipping the paint. So, here's some pics. Truck needs a good wash, and clay bar treatment. Much like the owner. ![]() Last edited by ducmons; 06-13-2007 at 03:36 AM. |

Re: 72 - GMC Project
Very nice - TOTALLY Jealous - I spent all winter thinking about drinking beer and looking out the window and my truck....

Re: 72 - GMC Project
That one bracket for the alternator may be. I reused it from the old 350 engine, just gave it a good polishing. the one for the a/c compressor was from vintage air, that we had to modify and build a bracket for.

Re: 72 - GMC Project
Love the truck, but it's got to go. What do you guys think I can get for it?
Not looking to make money, not even looking to recoup what I spent, no pipe dreams here. Ideas? |
