Re: What's the strangest thing...

I bought a 72 parts truck and found a cheap rusted up .25 auto pistol stuck up under the dash... I called the sheriff'ss office and turned it over to them. What good is a .25 except to shoot someone at close range (drug deal)

Re: What's the strangest thing...

A couple bodies! (live) Bought a 1973 Winnibego Brave from a storage center auction. When we went to pick it up,I opened the door, and surprised the naked couple sleeping on the bed. They were walking the road, saw the camper hopped the fence and went to sleep.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I found a big chunk of rusty steel. It wasn't until I tossed it around a few times that I realized it was a 2" trailer hitch. The threaded shaft part was rusted down to around 1/2" diameter.

You can just imagine how nice the cab corner was.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

Two snakes (one was a very angry rattlesnake) in the engine compartment, a bird's nest in the spare tire under the bed, and an ant bed in the floorpan. There have been several tree frogs, random tools and nuts and bolts and at least 4 rolls of duct tape patching different spots in the interior.

I keep finding the mirror backs to the 67-68 arm mirrors. Allot of ghetto maintenance work, for instance; people love to use wood to fix metal, fatigued parts.

I could never get my Blazer's carb running right, it was an Edelbrock 1406 so one day I pulled the top of it off and found a collection of metering rods and springs down inside it.

I'm thinking if I ran across a snake (or two) there would more to clean out of the cab than was in there prior to seeing it.

I found a toothless...comb, what was left of a name badge (not much left and couldn't read it) and an old ink pen...can't remember were it was from, I'll look tonight if I can find it. Oh and obvious stuff like the shag carpet somebody threw in there on top of the green outdoor carpet and the homemade, wooden "frame" the seats were bolted to.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I have a happy find in my 71 chevy truck ..

I bought my truck from a guy who said it came from Calif. and it did have one Calif. Licence plate on it . But,, I figured that it might be a ebay bought black License plate and just stuck on there for selling purposes.

But,,when I replaced the side windows and rubbers I found a round magnet advertisement that read the following .

Farmers Insurance Group
455 South 1st
Brawley California
Jay Tucker

Sorry to say at this time I can't find it ,,but I did write down what it said except the old phone number that was a word and a number combined..

Any one with any information that would prove that it very well could of came from this area ,,reply back with it and make my day !! papa

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I bought an '86 swb about 5 years ago. I went to look at it and 3 of the 4 tires were flat. They guy said it had been sitting for years there, so i aired them up enough to get to my house with it. when I got home, I put it on jack stands and took it to a friend to have tires put on it. When he was taking the tires off, he found i think a total of 7 Jax little piece things lodged in the 3 flat tires. After that, I gutted the interior and found some of them under the seat, some more in the radiator support. I think I found close to 30 or so of those little metal things. How the hell do you get those things everywhere?! I was so fascinated that I took pics, I'll try to find them and post them.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

I bought a 70's Duster from a junk yard that was full of trash in the passenger compartment and the trunk. The car smelled horrible, a fact the yard owner had commented on when I first ask him about the car. We moved about 8 trash bags of trash, rotted food and clothing from the interior. I remember taking out the back seat to crawl into the trunk since I did not get a trunk key with the car. Once the trunk was opened we had about three more bags full. We figured out that the owner was a local Taco Bell manager after finding several picture ID badges.

With all of this removed the car still smelled bad. That was when my helper decided to look under the front seat. He decided he was done helping when he spied the waistband of two pairs of underwear hidden under the edge of the seat. I laughed and grabbed a pair of pliers to grab one pair and pull them out. They were packed full of poop. Not just a little, more like a couple of pounds worth. We decided the best action was to pull the seat and roll whatever was left up into the carpet and toss the whole thing. There ended up being four pairs of POOP filled underwear under the seat. (Needless to say we did not yell, "OH POOP!" as you can imagine)

We figured out what the smell was. This was where I began reflecting on the crawl into the trunk.

The yard owner said he knew the PO and confirmed that he did in fact work at the local Taco Bell.

I really cannot imagine finding anything any stranger. This includes the wreck I bought once with a hair ball attached to the windshield dangling a what looked like a mass of dried blood.

My first car was an 82 Celica. I found a bag of weed stashed up under the drivers seat cushion when I was putting new covers on it. This was 1990 and it looked like it had been there since about 82.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

A guy I that I worked with about 14 years ago bought a toyota pickup for $500 off an old guy that did construction like backhoes and excavaters. The floor was full of dried mud from the guy getting in at job sites with muddy feet for about 10 years. So the guy decides to clean it out and takes out the seat and as he's cleaning out the cab he finds what looks like some money, under closer inspection it looks like a 100 doller bill.Under even closer inspection he see's that it's more than one all stuck together. He winds up bringing them to the bank and they send them somewere to get them apart and it turns out to be $800 worth of 100 doller bills.Pretty cool get a free truck and get paid $300 for cleaning it out!

Re: What's the strangest thing...

Was looking for the lock lug key for the car I have now after I bought it. I found a package of pictures down in the wheel well of the trunk developed at K-Mart. It was full of assorted girls in and out of clothes. PO's assorted girlfriends I suppose. The thing is, it appeared he took -everything- out of the car before he traded it in. No spare, no jack, no rear speakers. He forgot something. Also, K-Mart? Before digital cameras obviously.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

A friend of mine bought a truck on the cheap. After having the truck a few years he was cleaning the cab, pulled the mats out and found an eyebrow. Apparently the PO had committed suicide in the truck and wasn't found for a few days. Like I said, the truck went real cheap.

Re: What's the strangest thing...

working for the salvage yard its not uncommon to find, drugs, cash, lots of blood, and even body parts in a car.... one chevy cavalier we bought had 3 fingers in it.... working around the cars every day you stop looking at them as wrecks and just look at them as useable parts... but if i slow down and look at them again i realize some of those parts people actually died in.....its real sobering...

I just bought a parts truck for the cab. I swear there is shredded snake skin on every part of that cab, everywhere! I found the snake dead sitting on top of the heater switch thingy under the dash.
