Re: Some one tried to steal the 72

Man that sucks! My daughter went to a car show with her at the time 68 GMC driver truck and WON the grand prize "Alarm System" and she had them follow through and put it in the truck, that's most likely why we still have the truck today.

After you tell the cops they tried to steel your truck.

Cops: "we don't come out for that anymore, we just take a statement over the phone"

You: "What about the body laying here?"

Cops : "we be right over"

Cops suck anymore, the difference between most of them and the criminals is they wear there guns on the outside instead of stuck in their waistband.

If you are not using the truck, take the battery out of it. Theives usually don't carry their own.

Re: Some one tried to steal the 72

nah, springfiled micro compact 1911.

I had an 87 nissan pickup with a kill switch wired into the headlight switch.

Only whay you could start it was to turn the headlights on.

Re: Some one tried to steal the 72

Glad they didn't get away with the truck! I'm sure the cops will get a real detailed report over the phone. Let me guess, they wanted to take a message and call you back to get the report... Good thing you don't pay their salaries... oh wait...

Someone's tried to jack my daily driver toyota a couple of times. I wired in one of these into my ignition circuit:

Real easy install and I put it out of sight so you'd have to know where to look for it. Can't say that it makes the truck 100% secure, but someone's tried to jack it twice since the install without any luck. For 100%, I'd have to defer to Sport/Truck's security method

I may have some glass laying around if you want to pay for shipping. Or I can drop off glass or whole wing window next time I pass through if you aren't in a hurry.

Thanks a lot for that (anty-theft advice) ,,,,,I guess all it takes to steal a 67-72 truck is to use common sence

Re: Some one tried to steal the 72

First off, I HATE THIEVES!!!

To break into our trucks, you don't have to break out the vent window; all you have to do is push real hard & turn the wind wing in backwards. (I'm sure I helped a lot of thieves here)

Putting all that aside, I have, what I consider, to be a well hidden kill switch that grounds out the ignition box. The truck will crank, but won't start.
But I also know that to put power to the ignition, all I have to do is go from a 12V, or so, power source to the coil & the truck will run.

Soooo, I use this "Redneck security device" to keep to keep the nefarious folks in the 'hood from doing that.
Ain't nobody getting into the engine compartment without a key, or a bolt cutter.

I hope this little snippet helps at least 1 person.

And, yeah, I know the front of my truck is fugly. But putting it back together after I wrecked it is a "PAYGO" project. It runs & it's legal. That's all that matters right now!
