Temperatures are kind of bouncing above and just barely below freezing here in Atlanta. My truck isn't my daily driver, but I'll use it when it isn't down for maintenance and I need to haul something. Since swapping to an LS and EFI, it's become a lot easier to start in cold weather.

This picture was from about a year ago. Haven't had any snow this winter.

I really like the pictures of the trucks driving around in the snow. Makes them look even more rugged than they already are.

In the snow, in the rain, in the sunshine. Gas is $2/gal or $5/gal, I drive my truck.
I love my truck.

Huh? You live n Atlanta and had problems starting you truck in the winter? My trucks with SBC have always started just fine all winter. EFI and carb engines start differently, yes, but they both start. My '95 TBI Suburban will fire as soon as the engine turns. LS has nothing to do with it.

Not trying to be overly contrary, but these trucks actually are as tough as they look.

Previous owner had removed the choke from the carb. And the motor had some other tuning issues. I might have chased them down if I hadn't found it also had a cracked block.

Now I see what you mean and it's all good. I read it like these trucks don't start well when it's cold. It's true a carburated engine cranks longer, but they start just fine. SBCs have always been known for being cold natured, meaning once started they like to run a bit before gettin' right. Just old tech vs new. It's as much the computer as it is the FI. It's like the computer takes the air cleaner off, sprays starting fluid in, and puts the air cleaner back on for you. Mine sits all winter and I only start it every few weeks. It cranks a good while before firing. Then again, it has the Edelbrock carb that was on it when I bought it in '01 and the engine is swapped from another truck and was rebuilt in '90.

When you live in Houston TX you never have to park them unless you are out in the 100 degree temperature most of the summer then you look for shade!!!

Mine is a pleasure cruiser, but I drive it all winter as long as the roads are dry. I try not to take it out in the rain, too much power and not enough traction. I don't take it out in snow or ice.

Cold doesn't bother it at all, and it stays at least 40 degrees in my garage all the time.

I really try not to drive in the rain and we have so little snow it not and issue. My old BBC is a little cold natured but really not that bad.

Yes, my trailer queen sleeps under a blankey in her own bedroom but the only thing that keeps her off the road down here are the Love bugs....and the rain.

I usually don't drive mine in the winter, did a few years ago because my winter truck went down and now I have rust holes showing

This year I decided to pick up another snowmobile so out it went. Then this week ran out of fire wood here so had to go get a load from where I have more stashed so in the snow again. It sucks in the snow but those summer tires are a big culprit. I'd like to find a 4x4 chassis to swap my parts over to but then I'd probably drive it all winter long and it would end up the typical NY cancer patient.
