so what's the plan for the underbody when done?
and im jealous!. if i left all those welds unsealed like that here by the end of the day theyd have surface rust from the humidity..
(rush isnt a real issue here.. just surface rust)

There's little bit here and there. Amazing it's not worse here in Oregon!

dang FF those lines are clean! i deal with salt spray here. i live within a mile of the ocean. i grind something 1 hr later it's flash rusting... the next day it's already got some pitting going on. that's why i sandblast and straight into the oven.

Also made up a plenum/duct for the heater. This universal heater is becoming very specific...

The problem is that I can't mount the fan/motor assemble with the heater core under the dash. There's just no good place to package it together. So I split them up. You may have seen the fan mounted on the PS of the eng. comp in earlier pics.

In doing so I created another challenge; directing the air into the heater core. There is a space between the two that must be gapped with a plenum.

Here's the solution:
Moved the fan opening over about 1.25"

Flange on inside of firewall:

Location from other side:

Captive nuts:

View of gap between firewall and heater core:

Bridging the gap. I used posts to solidify the location/relationship between the core box and the flange:

Then filled in the blanks with sheet metal and painted:

You pour it in, tape off the big hole, and roll it around SLOWLY. Every angle and direction.

This is still a universal heater for anyone with a 66 Sunbeam Minx with a Honda S2000 drivetrain and custom firewall.

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Here you go. Nothing major, but little by little...

Fuel filler spout received the same treatment as the rest of the tank (sealer inside, regular POR out). Here's the tank with the pump installed and the spout with new rubber and OG clamps:

...removed all the brake/fuel lines, clutch and brake MC's, and pedals.

Another loose end to tie up was the throttle pedal. I have not been able to install it since the firewall/tunnel was closed in. The design of the pedal pivot required it to be inserted from the right side. That was no longer possible as is:

So I cut the pivot rod on the inside of the right pivot point (the right side will take ~90% of the stress), drilled, tapped, and welded a bolt to the removed side of the pivot:

Result:

Next, this little guy was the final remaining hold-out for closing in the firewall completely:

...that's as far as I got today (only had about 5hrs).

Heck Yeah Rob!

The local paint shop (Quality Paint Products) is having a hard time cross-referencing this blue into a "mix code." Here's what I have so far:

VITON HALF-HOUR ENAMEL

COLOUR CODE: 95

DESCRIPTION: Kingfisher Blue

Crown BERGER REFERENCE: 404.2164

PART NUMBER 1 LITRE: 75242865

Looks like we're just going to do a color match.

You could always take a small piece with original paint on it and have them scan it with there spectrometer gun to get the paint formula.

That's what I meant there:

But it's not an exact science; usually not a one step deal. You get close, spray it, go back and tweak the formula, continuing this way until its right. That's why it's worth the effort to find the factory data if possible.

Yes true. I've always had good luck with Rainbow paint. Just got done stripping a really bad primer job off a 58 VW 23 window micro bus with oven cleaner then buffing it out and fixing some bad body work and spotting it in.

Great work on the throttle setup. Looking forward to the custom paint matching.
