Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Like a glove. In fact I replaced the complete rear raised floor of the Blazer with a rust free floor from another Blazer and it must have had the exact same roll bar in because all the mounting holes lined up. Must have been a common roll bar. I can tell you if it's a factory GM, Hickey or a dealer installed aftermarket? Maybe someone here knows?

That's a factory roll bar out of a 73 up, I had one in my 71 years ago.

Wow. Not much left of the other one. That looks like a hickey rollbar to me. I’ve seen two versions though. One like yours and one where the leg bolts higher up in the middle of the wheelwell.

New weatherstripping on the top and doors. Hottest day in 7 months and I put the top on. Just not right.

Thanks! Made some more progress this week. Got the rear hatch painted, weatherstripped and installed. Made the final adjustment on the door latches by adding one more shim to both uppers on the latches. Fenders hung. Going to paint shop for touch up final cut and buff.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

'72 K5 4x4. Steering got really loose the other day while rolling down the road. Inspection showed severely worn tie rod ends. Replaced all tie rod ends and pitman arm linkage. Also found severely worn ball joints on the driver side. Replaced those as well. All of the components were original equipment, so I think we got our money's worth out of that stuff. Off to the tire shop for alignment, but inital drive test indicated like-new steering behavior.

Towed it to Tennessee in preparation for an upcoming move. We move next week. My garage looks like a pretty boring place right now!

Had steel caps that were chrome plated and stainless caps professionally polished by same company. Hard to tell which are chrome and which are stainless unless the light is just right. Both types have a mirror finish.

Painting these will be a bear - it's a lot of tape work. I wonder how GM painted these? Molds?

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Not complicated at all. Just used a prepsol to clean the inserts. Back of the vinyl has grids to make measuring easier. Cut to length and width. Removed the top 1 1/2 of the backer and attached all the way across the top. Then worked the vinyl from the larger area to the smaller area. Used a firm squeege to get air bubble out as you move along. Make sure the vinyl is tight against both sides of the raised perimeter detail and use a brand new razor blade to cut the vinyl off the top of the detail. Use the center of the razor blade and hold almost horizontally. I did each of the six perimeter sections one at a time. Making sure the vinyl was attached well and used 3-4 razor blades.

Not really. They are out there. Check your local K5 Facebook pages or marketplace. I had an extra one just sold to a member here.

Got some satin black on all the seat brackets and air cleaner assembly. Would have more pictures but had to pack up early because of another thunderstorm.
