Frizzle Fry, the work you've done is quite impressive! If I don't miss my guess, the basic premise of the car is light weight, lots of power, mix in a little deception (us old guys always called 'em "sleepers"), and you're out the door to have some fun!

Another thing I find really interesting...it's funny how the SWB vs. LWB discussion pops up in so many threads and so many conversations. I've had many, many of these trucks in both long and shortbed formats, but I must confess to having a preference for the short trucks!

Anyway, keep up the great work, and I'm sure many of us will keep watching. It's just your cross to bear having to listen to all our "inputs" and ideas! lol

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Slowed up on the Minx over the last couple months due to several factors. One of which was the forming of a new car club and cruise-in. Needed something to take to the cruises so I gave a little TLC to my 64 C10. One thing leads to another ...you know how it goes. I have project ADD in the worste way!

I have four days off starting tomorrow and WILL be working on the Minx! Standby for update...

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Thought I posted an update. Must have been tight when my WiFi dropped... No new pics to post (sorry). Got less shop time than expected. I did get things organized and ready to pick up where I left off. I do have some more travel coming up so it'll be at least a few weeks

On the 64; I haven't really been posting much about it. I'll post a pic later.

nicer than factory! love the stamped triangles for increased rigidity...and cool factor too...not to mention, they match the factory piece for the wall between the rear seat and the boot (that is trunk, isn't it?).

Thanks guys. Glad you like it. Finally put the bead-roller to use. I have to give credit to my wife for turning it for all four of those panels. She asked "why make it look nice when it will be covered?" Me- "because I need practice before I do anything that'll show."

looks awesome. Can you describe the process you use to create the curves and how the expanding lines on the metal play into the process as it's shaped? Awesome work

Yes the English call the trunk "boot" and hood "bonnet." On a Land Rover the front grille is known as the "breakfast" and the fenders are "wings." Not sure if those apply to other makes...
For this sexy little minx the rear area is known as "bootylicious."

Those lines you see on the firewall are where I did multiple brakes on the brake to form a curve. The drivers side justified that method more than the passenger side because of the conical curve. Truthfully, on the passenger side I could have simply bent it over a tube/pipe of the right diameter. The lines are also angled differently than the curve I ended up with. That's because the template looked like it needed to curve one way but the panel had other plans... So I ended up hand shaping that side anyway.

Looks great! What bead roller are you using and what are your initial impressions of it?

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Thanks for the kind words guys

I have the Cheap Woodward Fab or Harbor Freight jobber (they are the same thing). It works fine with a few adjustments out of the box. They are very inexpensive and very upgradable. .
I haven't had enough time to assess the durability or lack thereof. I'm happy with it so far. If you take your time you can get good results.

Looking good FF. i was gonna say wow when did you get a bead roller. i remember seeing your pipe bender, but didn't remember seeing a bead roller. no English wheel to make that compound curve?

very nice work though. progress is progress. one step closer to getting it done. makes me want to get moving on my nova again!
